How Does It Work?
This calculator covers three key areas: building a new deck, renovating an existing one, and repairing a deck.
New Deck:
In the new pool deck, you will need to enter the length and width or area of your desired deck area. After that you need to select travertine paver or tile type. The economy type are less expensive, but they are thinner. The standard type is thicker and more durable, but also comes at a higher cost. Premium travertine pavers are the imported one and offer the highest quality and durability, but they also come at a higher price.
Travertine Cost = (Travertine Type) * Area
Preparing the base:
For travertine the base vary depending on the type of soil in your area. The most popular base for travertine pavers are crushed stone, joint sand, and stone dust. You can also use concrete as your base, but it is not recommended because it can cause cracking over time. Enter the base material cost that might range from $0.20 to $3.5 per square foot.
Base Material = Area * Cost of material base per square foot
Sealant:
After installing your travertine pavers, it is highly recommended to seal them to protect against stains and moisture. Sealants can be applied either before or after installation, but it is generally easier to apply before installation as you won’t need to work around the pavers. It can cost you $0.3 to $3.6 per square foot, but it is worth the investment to keep your pavers looking like new for years to come.
Sealant = Area * Cost of sealer per square foot
Coping:
Coping is the process of capping the edges of our pool or patio with travertine pavers. It not only adds a finishing touch, but also provides a safe and slip-resistant edge to your pool. Coping cost only be calculated with liner foot method. The labor cost is fixed at $28 per linear foot, with the total linear footage ranging from 20 to 200.
Coping = Coping Length * $28/LF
Labor Cost:
The labor cost divided into base installation and paver installation. The base installation is the first step in laying your pavers, which includes digging and leveling the area, adding a layer of crushed stone and compacting it. This process typically costs $3.5 per square foot.
Base Installation = Area * Cost of base installation per square foot
On the other hand, travertine paver have complex installation procedures, which may increase the labor cost to around $4 to $18 per square foot.
Travertine Labor Cost = Area * Cost of travertine installation per square foot
Total Cost:
Sum up all the costs above, and you will have a rough estimate for your travertine paver project. Keep in mind that the overall cost may vary depending on factors such as location, labor rates, and any additional features or designs you choose to add. It’s always best to consult with a professional contractor for an accurate estimate tailored to your specific project.
Total Cost = Travertine Cost + Base Material + Sealant + Coping + Base Installation + Travertine Labor Cost
Demolition or Renovate:
The process of demolition or renovation is same as the new installation process. The removing cost of old pavers and preparing the surface for new installations may add additional costs to your project. However, if you don’t remove the existing base, it may reduce your overall costs, but make sure to check with a professional deck builders for proper guidance.
Repairing:
If you already have a deck and want to repair any damages, it is important to address them as soon as possible. Problems like minor cracks can be fixed by DIY methods like applying epoxy or sealant. However, for major damages like settling/uneven base, major structural failure, or rotting wood can cost you little more than just materials.
